The 5 prana Vauys are the five currents of life force or prana running through us. Each vayu is governs a physical location, physical and subtle function as well as emotional qualities and mental energies. Each of the Vayus of prana have subtle differences in function and direction of flow in the body. Together, they serve to energize and connect all of our activities, on multiple levels.Through focusing on each of these Vayus in the wkshp, we’ll cultivate a deeper awareness that enriches the quality of our breath, movement and sense of body-mind-spirit connectedness.
In this 2-part wkshp, Aparna will explore with us the energetics of the five Vayus, their value and significance in yoga practice, the role they play in Ayurveda, balancing them with specific pranayama’s and then put it all together in a guided Yoga Indra practice. You’ll come away from the course with a clear and experiential understanding of the Vayus, and an appreciation of how to access them in your yoga practice to carry you forward in your practice.
What You Will Learn
- The origin of the yogic concept of Prana Vayus and how it can inform our modern day yoga practice.
- The energetic qualities of each of the five Prana Vayus and the different functions and aspects of our being governed by each.
- The role the Vayus play in regulating our mental and emotional well-being.
- The significance of the five Vayus as outlined in Ayurveda therapy.
- Specific postures and pranayama as well as mantra techniques to develop greater awareness of the five Vayus in your practice and to balance and support their function.
- A Yoga Nidra practice designed specifically to heal the Prana Body ( integrating all prana Vayus)

Based in one of the most ancient sacred music traditions Kirtan is call-and-response chanting performed in India's bhakti (devotional) path of yoga.
Collective chanting of Sanskrit mantras, bhajans and chants raises the consciousness, unites hearts across all cultures, removes barriers and creates peace both within ourselves and on Earth.
As much music as magic, chants create sacred vibrations which uplift the listener and charge atmosphere with positive energy. These Sanskrit chants are said to be filled with power, and each is said, has its own unique and positive effect. From opening the mind & the heart, to lifting the spirits these sacred songs will bliss you out.

Born & raised in India, Aparna has been singing Kirtan all her life. She sings and plays both traditional chants from India as well as her own compositions in various languages. Between each chant she enjoys sharing mystical poetry from the sacred voices of the East & the West.
